A plethora of things

Like my title? I really just wanted to use the word plethora. I love that word for some reason. Okay...on with it.

I got lots of questions about the flooring in our house. The downstairs is all stained concrete. No tile, no carpet, wall to wall concrete. We love it. It's so easy to maintain. Not real great with babies, but we're managing. The upstairs is all Mountain Grass. It's a sisal type carpet and it's eco-friendly. Looks like this:

We're all about being green! I also got several questions about Hudson's paint color in his room. I don't remember the exact color, but it's chocolate brown (no VOC). We painted stripes (well, WE didn't but the painter did) using a flat paint and a satin paint. It gives off the impression that the browns are different colors, but they really aren't. Just different textures of paint. I guess you could even go with a gloss paint to make the stripes stand out more. We wanted a subtle look though. It's my favorite room in the house!!
And yes - Hudson's room is HUGE. We were originally going to use it as a guest room, but decided at the last minute that his nursery would work better in that room because it's the most quiet. Away from our deck and our rowdy friends that we love having over. :)

Last night, we went to an Open House for some of our friends new kettlebells studio. They're both certified instructors and the studio looked great! There were lots of kids and Hudson had a ball playing with everyone.

He loved this hoola hoop though he wasn't sure how to use it.

He wasn't so sure about the ropes

Sweet Lana giving a big CHEEESE!!

Hudson' favorite by far was this tunnel that attached to a tent. He entertained himself for at least 30 minutes. We'll be purchasing one of these for the house.

Last on my list is sweet pea's birthday. I cannot believe he's turning ONE!!! It seems like just yesterday, he looked like this:

We are in full party planning mode at our house. No, not really. We're keeping it pretty simple. How much will he really remember??? Probably nothing! I ordered some cute stickers with his name printed on them for the goodie bags yesterday. I was thinking I'd put bubbles or play-doh or silly putty in the bags. Any ideas from you Moms?

Its a whole lot easier being green than you think. Everyone thinks its more expensive and you have to change your entire life. Thats exactly the perception but is not the reality by any means. All you bloggers and blogettes feel free to visit sensebuilders.com to find out more about green building or follow us on twitter http://twitter.com/SenseBuilders

BTW Sara has done mah-velous job going green. I think she may have lapped me.

Peace TNev

Bubbles are a great idea - I personally hate having playdoh at my house but am more than happy to give it out! LOL!

I did cloth diapers with TM. That is pretty green.

I want to redo our bedroom and the playroom with that flooring. Love it.
Sara (or Trey) please do a post on all the ways y'all went green with your home and how we can do it with our houses already built. Very interesting.

Play-doh is perfect. The little ones, great for moms to put in the diaper bag to entertain at restaurants and such.

Play Doh is the Devil. ;) I usually do bubbles.
Unless, it's my great nephews that I'm buying for. Play Doh and cotton candy all the way. ;)

So, lets hear more about mountain grass... how is it on stains like Juicy Juice and care and shedding and all that... and is it pricy? I love the look!

I love the idea of the stained concrete! If we had that though it probably would be a lot louder in this house than it already is. Ha! I'd go w/ bubbles. I always put them in goodie bags. On Evan's 1st b-day party I caught a couple kids (including one of mine) trying to blow the bubbles and then catch them in their mouths, but they loved them!

I love that you are a green family. We are too. Mr. Mack wants to build a house out of straw bales. I am not so sure, but we are really into being green. I love that flooring! Awesome! If y'all are fans of Laurie Berker, she and her office are going green and she has done some blogging and videos about what they have learned from their green consultant. I want to do that painting technique (or have someone else do it) when I get a house.I love the personal stickers. We did a 1st birthday brought to you by the letter M and my goodie bags had things that started with the letter M. I love bubbles. I am indifferent about playdoh. Happy 1st birthday!
