Yay for Friday!

Friday, January 29, 2010 | | 16 comments
This has been a long week! Hudson's been sick and hasn't gone to school, so Hubby has been doing a lot of extra Hudson watching this week during the day. And now, Hubby is feeling sick. Awesome. I'm sure a lot of this sickness has to do with our TX weather. You know...70 and sunny one day and 30 and snowing the next.

And to top off the week, all of the rain we got yesterday has caused a major leak in Hudson's playroom. We walked in last night and this is what I found. I guess we'll be replacing the seagrass in this room. Even more awesome.

I'm ready for the weekend, people! We don't have a single plan and I'm loving it. Although, I fear I may be taking care of a sick husband. Who do you think is the bigger baby when they're sick....a 36 year old man or an 11 month old baby??

Ear Infections

Thursday, January 28, 2010 | | 5 comments
Poor Hudson. Several months ago, I thought we'd done really well not having a single ear infection. Fast forward to December and he got his first one. Fast forward to right now and we're on our 4th one. Ugh!

Dr. M started him on some new medicine. We think most of this has to do with his allergies (thanks to mom and dad) and if we can get those under control, then maybe his ears will clear up to. Poor guy woke up on Monday morning with his eyes swollen and red.

This picture makes my heart ache. He looks like he feels awful.

We're going to try him on this new medicine for a week or so and see what happens. If nothing improves, we'll go the route of tubes. Yuck. I've heard good and bad things about tubes. Good that it clears up the ear infections, but bad because they tend to fall out and you have to go in and have the whole procedure done again. Anyone have experience with this??? If so, let me know your thoughts!

A little smile...

Flippin Out!

Wednesday, January 27, 2010 | | 4 comments
I'm so excited!! Trey and I gave each other a Flip for our anniversary this year and it finally arrived yesterday. YAY!!! Can't wait to share some videos of Studson with all of you.

And how cute is this? We customized our flip with his smiling face! I love it.

Whenever I tell Hudson to say cheese for the camera, I get this face:

He's developing quite the personality these days....

Weekend

Monday, January 25, 2010 | | 6 comments
I had big plans to post some fun pictures of Trey and I circa 1999, but that's all gone by the wayside. I'll have to save that for next year's anniversary post.

We had a nice weekend. Went to our usual on Friday night...good ole Joe T's. Hudson loves going and sitting outside on the patio. And since it was 65 degrees on Friday, we were able to do that. He loves their rice and beans!

I know he's thinking: will you please get that thing with the bright flash out of my face!?!?

On Saturday night, Trey and I celebrated our anniversary by going to dinner at Eddie V's. It was soooooooo good! I really can't say enough about our meal and our whole experience. We've been there several times to have drinks in the bar, but never eaten dinner. I ordered one of the specials of the night and it was phenomenal! Haddock with a bacon/caper vinaigrette along side buffalo mozzarella mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. So freakin' good! We also had a sashimi platter beforehand that had super white tuna, salmon and ahi tuna. And for dessert............... bananas foster cake with homemade butter pecan ice cream. Oh.my. gosh. DELISH!! Even Hubby who "doesn't like" bananas ate this and loved it. I guess he likes bananas now.

We washed all of this down with a bottle of champagne. Oh..and wine. Oh...and went out for more drinks afterwards which consisted of Rockstar Sara taking a Jager shot. WHAT?!?!? I don't take shots. Ever. I don't know what came over me, but I felt like I'd been run over by a Mack truck on Sunday. Luckily, sweet pea was at my parents and we didn't have a 6am wake up call.

Go ahead and click on this pic so you can see just how tipsy I was... wow.
And yes, same shirt as New Years Eve. I really need to go shopping.

My best bud, Maggie and her boyfriend, Jack joined us for the rockstar part of the evening.

It was a fun weekend and I can't believe I've been married for 11 years! I don't feel old enough to be married that long.
I have to say, I really don't miss the 'getting drunk and staying up late' days. At all. I'm 99.9% sure I won't be doing that again any time soon.

Looks like we've made it....

Playgroup & Bathtime

Friday, January 22, 2010 | | 9 comments
Hudson and I went to our first playgroup yesterday. Um.....let's just say that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
I mean, seriously....how fun can a playgroup be with kids under the age of 1?? Yeah, that's what I thought. And did I mention that there was none of this

wine-bottle.jpg

Would have been a lot better with wine.

But, it was 3.00 in the afternoon. Maybe that was a good decision by the hostess.

It was nice to meet some new people with kids that are Hudson's age though. He was kind of a toot the whole time. He only had a morning nap of 40 minutes, so he was in rare form. Very whiny, clinging to my legs and not wanting to participate in any playtime. The girl who hosted had one of those jumping john thingys hanging from one of her doorways and I finally put H in that to see if it would amuse him for awhile. It did. So, yes. We were the playgroup outcasts over in the corner by ourselves. Nice way to teach him social skills, huh?

Happy as a lark all by himself in the corner

Then he figured out that Mommy might be taking pictures of other babies. Uh-oh

This is sweet Rowan - she's about to have her first birthday next month

And this precious punkin is Ellery. She's almost 8 months and absolutely beautiful!

There were several other kiddos, but I didn't get pictures of them because Hudson decided to start screaming. We made an early exit, but hopefully we'll be invited back.

On a brighter note: He's finally starting to like his bath time! In the big bath tub. I'm so lazy that I usually just throw him in the shower with me or Trey. Much easier, in my opinion. However, if you got my Christmas card or saw it here then you know that H was not a big fan of taking a bath by himself. He loves it now.

I know this picture doesn't look like it, but he really did enjoy himself. I promise.

I put some new toys in the tub, stripped him down and he splashed around for at least 15 minutes. This is a good thing, people.

Happy Friday to all. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Weird? Maybe. More like Unique

Thursday, January 21, 2010 | | 6 comments

Everyone has some weird habits, right?? Sometimes my hubby thinks I'm crazy. Seriously. He looks at me and just shakes his head. Sometimes he does stuff that he knows makes me crazy, just to see my reaction. Do your husbands do this? Anyway, I thought I'd write down a few "weird" things about me:

1) I do not like birds. At all. They scare me.

2) I do not like dolls. At all. They too scare me.

3) I only eat the waffle fries from Chick-Fil-A if they have the holes in them. I throw the ones that don't look like a waffle out (or hubby eats them).

4) I can't sleep with the closet door open. Has to be closed. This isn't a problem anymore because our closet is now off of our bathroom. Skillfully planned by me!

5) I can only drink Diet Coke out of a can. Don't like it over ice and don't like it in a plastic bottle.

6) I don't like to be barefoot. Almost always have on flip flops or some sort of shoes. Even in the dressing rooms when I'm trying on clothes. (Go ahead and laugh Courtney N.)

7) I move my lips when I read. I don't realize I do this, but Hubby swears I do. This would annoy me if I could see myself because it annoys me when I see other people doing it.

8) I scratch my throat my making a "horrible" noise that I've been told sounds like a pig.....it sure feels good though. And Hudson laughs when I do it.

9) I have to dry off completely while I'm still in the shower (after the waters off) before I step out. Puddles of water (aka...wet footprints) on the floor drive me insane.

I'm sure there are plenty more that my family and friends could add to this, but thats all I can think of for now. I wonder if Hudson will inherit any of these traits?

Do you have any quirky habits??  And if you have kids, did they inherit any of those?

Look at this sweetpea.... he looks like a little toddler sitting in his bumbo eating graham crackers!

Guilt of a Working Mom

Wednesday, January 20, 2010 | | 6 comments
Today was the first day I've ever witnessed Hudson cry when I left the house for work. Absolutely killed me. He was sitting in his Dad's lap reaching out his arms to me and screaming. This is when I hate being a working mom.

I've noticed lately that he's very clingy in the mornings. He used to be content to play with his toys and entertain himself while I got ready for work. Lately though, he's been crawling into the bathroom and climbing up on my legs while I'm trying to get ready. I end up holding him and trying to put on mascara. I've gotten pretty good at it...if I do say so myself.

I guess he's getting to the age where he realizes that Mommy leaves every morning. I know he'll get used to it, but it sure does make my heart ache.

This is the "why are you leaving me?" look

Do y'all feel guilty when you leave your child(ren)??

Yee-haw!

[New+Image.JPG]

Every year, the stock show and rodeo come to town during the last few weeks of January and first week of February. Our town gets crazy. It's amazing to me how many people come here to go to this event. Fort Worth hosts one of the oldest rodeos ever. It started way back in 1896!! I won't go into a lot of history, but if you're interested, go here.
Restaurants are packed, traffic is nuts (which isn't good for someone who has road rage like me), trucks and trailers are all over the place, and the boost to our local economy is GREAT! It's actually a ton of fun. Especially for kiddos. They have petting zoos and pony rides and all kinds of fun things for the little ones. My favorite night of the rodeo is Bulls Night Out...which happens on TUES and WED night and really kicks off the rodeo.

Bulls' Night Out

There's also a big parade every year in downtown. We decided to take Hudson down there this year and let him watch all of the horses, carriages, high school bands, etc.... He wasn't so sure what to make of all the animals and people yelling as they rode by. But, it was fun!

This was pretty much the look on Hudson's face throughout the whole parade....so serious!

Can't you just see the wheels spinning around in that little noggin?

How cute is this little boy??? I'm guessing he was about 6 or 7. Adorable.

After the parade, we went to lunch where Hudson indulged in his first grilled cheese sandwich.
He loved it!!!

Have a good week, y'all!

Random Wednesday and Some Questions

Wednesday, January 13, 2010 | | 6 comments
Trey and I ordered a new sectional (below) and I CANNOT wait for it to get here!! Our house looks so unfinished right now because we have a very open plan and half of the big family room isn't furnished. So.....this will make a huge difference.  Now....I need to find some cute fabric to have pillows made.

10 Months Old....for real???

Tuesday, January 12, 2010 | | 6 comments
Studson - Please stop growing up so fast. Seriously. I can't believe I have to start planning your first birthday party already. It doesn't seem possible.

If anyone has any creative ideas for a 1st birthday, please do tell!!! Would love to hear them.

What are you up to these days, Hudson?

Well...for starters, you are a crawling and climbing machine! You are into anything and everything. You LOVE to climb up our stairs. This has become one of your favorite past times. We will be installing the baby gates soon. You are so funny as you climb though. You go up 2 or 3 stairs, stop, look back down over your shoulder and then continue up a few more. This goes on all the way up the stairs. Until you make it to the very top...then you make a noise like: HUH! Kind of like: I did it, Mom. How you like that?!?! It cracks me up. You're always so proud of yourself.

You've also figured out how to open and close doors. Your Daddy found you trapped in our pantry the other day because you had closed yourself in. Silly boy!

You're still eating like a champ. You're getting a little picky, but I think it's just because you want to feed yourself. You have 6 teeth now. 4 on top and 2 on bottom. You're pretty good at getting most of the stuff into your mouth and you've learned to chew very well. You LOVE graham crackers and I just found out that I'm really not supposed to give them to you. They have honey in them??? Oops. Bad Mommy.
You're sleeping much better in the sense that you take 2 naps per day. Long naps. About 1.5 to 2 hours each. Yay!! However.....you're still an EARLY BIRD! You've been waking up at 5AM and that's just not acceptable. 6AM is borderline. 7AM would be fabulous! Can we try to aim for that?? You fell asleep in your highchair the other day at 8.30am because you had been up since 5.30am.

You've definitely got an attitude. You know what you want and when you want it. And you usually want it NOW.
We've seen a lot of this lately:

 But, also....a lot of this:

You're learning so much these days and I absolutely adore watching you grow and develop. Sometimes I can almost see the wheels spinning in that little head of yours. You're so inquisitive about everything and you're trying to communicate with us so much lately. Lots of Ma-ma, Da-Da, E, Uhh, Mah....luckily, you haven't learned the word 'No' yet.

Your hair is getting lighter and lighter. And you have a ton of it! That's usually the first comment people make about you. Your eyes are still blue and I'm wondering if they'll stay that way??? Time will tell. You are so precious and we love you so much. Happy 10 month birthday!

So many things....

Monday, January 11, 2010 | | 5 comments
1) My computer totally crapped out! Gone. Bye-bye. I picked up a virus or spyware or something and it completely knocked out my operating system. So...I've got some guys trying to get the information that I need off of the hard drive and then we'll go from there. Fun times. My mom just bought a new Mac and has graciously let me use it. I'm loving it. Think I'll have to go Mac this time around.

2) It has been FREEEEEZING here in the Fort. We usually get some cold weather, but it doesn't normally last for 2 weeks. I think it's supposed to get to the 50's today so that's good.

3) How bout them Cowboys?!?!?!? We went to the game on SAT night and had so much fun. We ended up scoring some suite tickets so we were living the high life. Thanks Carlton!

Carlton, Trey and Adam before the game

4) I'm still very upset about Mike Leach being fired from Tech, but I'm glad that we've hired someone new and can get this show on the road again. It will be interesting to see how Tommy Tuberville fits into the Texas Tech admin drama and what he does to our football program. Will he keep running a spread offense??? Will he keep Ruffins on as DC? Will he bring in new people? Will he influence all of our great recruits for 2010 to STAY with Tech? So many questions. Can't wait to see how it all plays out.

5) My baby boy turned 10 months old on Friday. I can.not.believe.it. More on that in a separate post. He also has his 3rd ear infection. Not good. He's back on antibiotics and Dr. M also prescribed some Singulair and wants him to take Zyrtec every single day. Poor little guy. He had no chance on the allergy front...between Trey and I...he was doomed. His ear doesn't seem to bother him much. He's not fussy or anything. So, I guess we should be thankful for that! Just hate that he's having to take so much medication.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!
