Trey: Hudson, you can play with your trains for 5 more minutes and then it's time to go to bed.
Hud: *** silence ***
Trey: Hudson, Did you hear me?
Hud: ***silence *** (he's mastered this selective hearing thing already)
Trey: Hud, 5 more minutes and then bed time, got it?
Hud: Hudson hears you Daddy. (he speaks about himself in 3rd person. Seinfeld anyone??)
Trey: Do we have a deal?
Hud: Deal.
15 minutes later - (we lost track of time. Don't judge)
Trey: Okay Hudson, time to go upstairs. Put your trains away and let's go read books.
Hud: No, Daddy. I want to play for 1 more minute.
Trey: Nooo....we had a deal. Remember??
Hud: (After thinking for several seconds) - I want a new deal, Daddy.
He's a talking machine when we get in the car. What's that? What's that? What's that? And he argues with me sometimes about what it is. If I say it's a restaurant, he might say - no, mommy - that's a car store. Oh okay. The other day, this took place:
H: What's that Mommy?
S: That's a building.
H: What's that Mommy?
S: That's McDonalds.
H: No, Mommy. That's the pancake store.
S: You're right, Hud. It's the pancake store.
H: And the french fry store.
S: Good memory.
And this also happened the other day. John Robert was in his swing sleeping soundly while Hudson ran around the house like a wild Indian on speed. He runs up to JR and grabs his hand.
S: Hudson - please leave him alone. You have to be gentle. He's a baby.
H: No, mommy - Hudson wants to say a prayer for John Robert.
S:
H:
S: Hudson - that was very sweet. Thank you.
And then he dropped JR's hand and slapped him on the head. Baby steps, people. Baby steps.

Love it Sarah!! That is hillarious and so sweet all at once!! Just wait he could be like my kids and say - there's the beer store (Total Wine).
Maymen!
Jimmy loves.....oh, wait....Hudson! Awesome.
Hilarious!! These remind me a Colt! Especially the deals and one more minutes. Oh and the ignoring. IT.DRIVES.ME.CRAZY. I have started telling him that I am going to take his ears away if he won't listen!
Bahahahahaa!! That's cute! I have 2 boys so I totally can see all of that last conversation/prayer.
Little boys are so sweet, we are so lucky to have boys, I swear. :)
i don't know if i look forward to the day my 17 month old can talk, or not?!? hilariou! and kinda scary.
So cute. Be careful with the swing and Hud. Bram used to push the hell out of TM in the swing.
I'm surprised she isn't brain damaged.
I had to keep a close eye.
