I've been really bad at updating the blog, so this will be a big post with lots and lots of pictures. Most are from my phone, so the quality's not great. We've been busy-busy. JR is growing like a weed and Hudson is making us laugh to no end. The kid really is hilarious and he doesn't even try to be. This age (almost 2.5) is awesome - minus the temper tantrums, of course.
Being goofy in my shoes
Riding in "Mac" at the grocery store - Mac is the red truck from the Cars movie - FYI.
Hudson started school again last week and he's loving his new classroom and teacher. He got smiley faces all last week and even got to be the "Snack Helper" on Friday. Good boy!
Of course, I had to get the obligatory first day of school pictures -
you can see below how well they worked out.
Look at me....please!!! Uh. no.
Hudson - one time. Look at me and smile. Nope - not gonna do it.
Let's try over by the car.
How about if Daddy holds you?? Nah, not so much.
Fine - then I'll just grab you and force you to take one with me!
I wasn't hurting him, I promise :)
When we got to his school, he marched right downstairs and found his new classroom. One quick picture by the bulletin board - still refused to look at the camera - although he was saying cheese.
He's doing great and is always asking about his friends. I love how well he's adapted to school and he's learning so much. The things he says amaze me everyday and I know a lot of that comes from going to school. Good job, buddy!
Hud's also being a great big brother. We've been so relieved at how well he's done with John Robert. Don't get me wrong - there's always an extra squeeze or a pat that's a little too hard, but he's really pretty sweet to his baby brother. We've been doing bath time with both of them in the tub at the recommendation of a friend - thanks, Carrie! Great idea. They both love it.
Cheeeeeeeeeeeese.
Natalie and I didn't plan it - but the boys ended up wearing the same swimsuits. Gotta love Target!
Fricks needs to give Hudson some lessons on looking at the camera
That night, Trey and I went to our friend, Teddy's 40th birthday party. Yes...you read that right. 40!!! How is that possible? I can still remember when my parents turned 40. I can't believe we're attending 40th bday celebrations now. And for the record - I still have over 4 years before I hit 40, so don't be thinking I'm in that category yet :) Trey and I had a great time catching up with friends.
We decided to use a babysitter for the first time and the boys did absolutely awesome. She had Hudson in bed, teeth brushed and even got him to use the potty by 8.30pm. That's impressive, people. Very impressive. I asked her if she would come back every night.
John Robert is growing and doing great. He's starting to smile now whenever I go to pick him up and I love seeing that.
He'll be 11 weeks old on WED, but we're still going by his adjusted age...which is 6 weeks. I think the doctors will go by his adjusted age until he's 2 years old. Supposedly, that's when he'll be completely "caught up" developmentally. Right now, he's definitely doing things that a 6 week old would be doing. And I have to keep reminding myself of that each day. He's sleeping pretty well. We're not on a set schedule yet, but he goes about 4-5 hours at night.
I just decided to give up nursing and I feel super guilty about it, but I think it's for the best. I've been stressed out about it and a stressed out Mama is not a good Mama. So.....he'll be a formula baby from here on out. I feel pretty good about the fact that I did it for 3 months though...or almost. Hopefully the little munchkin got all of those good nutrients and antibodies to fight off infection from me in those 11 weeks.
Sleepy boy
He's finally growing out of his premie clothes too. But...we're kind of in between sizes. The premie's are too small (length wise) and the newborn stuff is still too big. Hmmm. This little outfit is darling though. Thanks, Brenda!!
I've completely rambled through this post and I've been working on it since Sunday morning. Nice. I'll leave you with this sweet picture of Trey and Hudson walking to church. Hudson looks like such a big boy with his backpack holding Dad's hand. Love those boys.
Hope everyone has a good week!!
Ciao.

Great recap and pics!
John Robert is so cute. He's getting to be a fatty!
And, I have been meaning to tell you that I love Hud's fro. Awesome.
Love the update and all the pictures. And um nursing, I did it for five weeks with Colt and it felt like the loooongest five weeks of my life. I am going to give it another go this time and I tell myself not to let myself feel guilty if it doesnt work out but I know I will.
And I am jealous about your meetup! I want to go too :) Although I dont know the other girls. I will have to check out their blogs. Have a good week!
Awww..it brings back great memories of Emma's preemie days. She was 6 weeks early and just fyi, she did everything on time just like someone who was full term. So just b/c they are preemie doesn't mean they can't be an equal! =)
Those boys are just so adorable. That curly hair = cuteness times 100!
I'm glad you gave us an update!! =0
