In all seriousness, we had to get John Robert a helmet this past week. He really favors his right side and constantly lays on that side when he sleeps...therefore, his head has become flat on that side. It's actually pretty severe. The most severe cases start around 11% on the measurement scale and JR was at 19.6%. We have to get that percentage down to 3.5% before the helmet can come off. Seems like a big task to me, but the doctors assure me that it will only take 12 weeks.
Here's a picture of the munchkin with his new helmet.
Don't let him fool you. He's smiling in this picture, but he really doesn't like it much. During the day, he's great about it. When it comes to sleeping in it at night?? Not so much. Last night, he was up 4 times.
So much for my "sleeping thru the night" baby. UGH!
He's supposed to wear it 23 HOURS per day. Yes, you read that right. Poor baby.
I've also set up a physical therapist for him. He'll be 6 months old next week....which means in premie months - he's almost 5 months. But....he's still not doing things that a 5 month old should be doing. We're still having trouble with his head control. If I lay him on his tummy....he HATES it. Won't lift his head up at all. Can't push himself up with his arms. Hasn't rolled over yet. The list goes on and on. So, I'm hoping some physical therapy will help him out. I'm trying not to stress about it.
Say some prayers for us. Thanks.
On to other news.....Jolly made his debut at our house last week.
Jolly has also forgotten to go the the North Pole 3 times already. Why the hell can't I remember to move this thing??? Luckily, the weather was bad this weekend so we blamed it on the weather and said it was too rainy and foggy for Jolly to make it to the North Pole. Hudson believed it.
I'm not entirely sure he's grasping the whole Elf thing just yet. Next year will probably be better.
My mom took Hud to visit Santa at the mall last week. This picture reminds me of one of those awkward family pics for some reason??? Is it just me?
My aunt Berta sent Hudson an advent "garland" this year. She made it and each little stocking is filled with dum-dum lollipops. Hudson is head over heels for lollipops these days.
He especially loves the ones that will turn his tongue blue
My dad had rotator cuff surgery a few weeks back. He's about to start his physical therapy too. Maybe he and John Robert can do it together?? ha!
He's had that brace on his arm for almost 6 weeks now.
I have a few more Christmas presents to buy, but I'm finished for the most part. That feels so good! Now, if I can just keep Hudson from trying to open all the gifts under the tree. The whole "Jolly is watching you" line isn't working so well.
Tonight is our annual "Girls Christmas Party" at my cousin's house. It's always a fun time. And we have several more over the next couple of weeks. Tis the Season!

Big Prayers for John Robert! I just know he's going to be a-OK! I don't blame him on the helmet thing.. I wouldn't want to wear it either!!
As for the Elf...Reed is just now really getting into this year. Last year.. not so much.
Sending lots of prayers for JR!! It is amazing what doctors and therapists can do these days. It is so good that you are being proactive!! Can't wait to hear about all of his progress!! Awkward family photo - is it just b/c Hudson is actually smiling?! Our elf has been boozing it up (we didn't leave him that way - I'll have to text you the pic) and ziplining at our house! My kids are still misbehaving though.
Love, love, love him!!!!!! Helmet and all.
next Shaun White - lookout
I laughed out loud about Jolly forgetting to go to the North Pole. We have forgotten several times too!! I just say that he must have really liked that spot!
Prayers going out to sweet JR. He looks precious in his helmet.
You are funny on the Santa pic. I love the blue tongue. lots of healing thoughts being sent to JR. I can't imagine 23 hours with that. Poor guy.
